MSXLIVE - FAST INSTRUCTIONS v.250329
Msxlive is a 3 in 1 project.
- A bootable USB pendrive with a live linux distribution to manage the openmsx emulator.
- The emulation power of OpenMSX with the lightness and management tools of a live Linux environment
- The convenience of a common USB drive usable on a PC on which to store and launch all the roms and msx disks you own

OPENMSX MOST USED
Menu: Right windows key
Swap Disk on drive a: ALT+F9 & SHIFT+ALT+F9
Swap Disk on drive b: ALT+F10 & SHIFT+ALT+F10
Savestate: ALT+F8
Loadstate: ALT+F7
Check the key association in the command console (F10) with the bind command.
We kindle suggest to customize the fullscreen and the v9990 graphics mode selector with these bind commands:
- bind ALT+RETURN "toggle fullscreen"
- bind F12 "cycle videosource"

FIRST INSTALLATION
- ISTALLATION: Use RUFUS to write the image on a USB stick. You MUST prefer a USB3 one formatted in exFAT or NTFS , otherwise you could get some issues
- TRANSFER PARTITION: you can manage and resize it using tools like MiniTool Partition Wizard. You can use the magic TRANSFER partition both on windows and on msxlive, to easily trasfer, store and manage your msx stuff
- SET OPENMSX: best if adjust video with no scan, no blur and 3x scale factor
- SET AUDIO MIXER: clickDX on desktop, open terminal, enter [pavucontrol] command or use pavucontrol icon to fully detect and setup volume of your audio device.
- REVEAL OPENMSX: Reveal openmsx hidden folders with F8 or CTRL+H
- ADDING MACHINES: add your favourite machine putting the .xml file in: msxconfig/share/machines folder. Be careful the xmlfile points for roms with right name
- ADDING ESTENSION: you can do the same with extensions putting the .xml file in msxconfig/share/estension folder. Be careful the xml file points for roms with right name
- ADDING ROMS FOR MACHINES AND EXTENSION: put machine and extension rom files in msxconfig/share/systemroms folder
- BACKGROUND IMAGE: you can customize it changing msx.png file in .bkgdata folder with your favourite one
- BOOTING IMAGE: change msx.png in the first partition (maybe you need to assign a letter to the first partition before you can add a file)
OPENMSX & GUI
- STARTING GAME: Use OpenMSX as you know. But you can also double click on .rom .cas .dsk and .zip (for multiple .dsk) directly from MSXlive file manager
- CONFIGURATION: Here you can change keyboard language and screen resolution. Look at the readme file for details
- OPENMSX START SCRIPT: you can prepare and choose between multiple parameter files to launch your openmsx. Store it in the parameters directory with .par extension and click APPLYPARAMETER to setup the default machine you prefer
- RESTART GUI: if you close accidentally the openmsx window, right click on desktop, applications, utilities, thunar file manager.
